"Travel changes us not because we move through
the world, but because the world moves through us."

Who am I
I am Lena, founder of BlueDrift.
A dreamer, adventurer, and nature enthusiast who fell in love with the beauty and diversity our planet offers.
I believe in connection, curiosity, and the exchange of stories, cultures, and perspectives. Throughout my life, I have often found myself stepping outside my comfort zone and embracing challenges that ultimately helped me grow.
My goal is simple: to live authentically, stay connected to nature, and never stop exploring. Along the way, I hope to inspire others to believe in their dreams, follow their curiosity, and discover what makes them feel truly alive.
"Because travel is not only about where we go.
It is about how we choose to experience it."
The Bluedrift vision
At some point during my travels, I realized that I wanted to share more than just destinations.
I wanted to share the feelings, stories, encounters, and lessons that traveling gave me.
I also began to understand that meaningful travel should not only benefit the traveler, but also the places we visit and the people who call them home.
Bluedrift was created from the idea that traveling can connect people, nature, and communities. That some of the most rewarding experiences are often the simplest.
That authenticity, respect, curiosity, and human connection matter more than luxury.
I believe travel should create value for everyone involved, travelers, local communities, guides, and small businesses alike.
BlueDrift is not a brand.
It is my story, my values, and my way of sharing the world with others.
"Some places stay with us long after we leave them."
My story
"Wonder begins when we slow down enough to notice it."
My curiosity began as a child. Together with my siblings, I spent countless hours climbing trees, building imaginary worlds, and dreaming about understanding the language of animals. Looking back, I realize those dreams never really disappeared. The questions simply became bigger, and so did the world around me.
Growing up in Kenya sparked an early fascination with wildlife and nature.
At the same time, being surrounded by people from different cultural backgrounds taught me from a young age that there is not just one way to see the world.
Over the years, I have lived in different countries, cultures, and communities.
I spent years living in Iran, where I built close friendships and experienced daily life. I later lived in Oman, I studied in Germany and Thailand, and today I am living and working on a local island in the Maldives as a dive instructor.
These experiences taught me something important: destinations are not defined by landscapes alone, but by the people who call them home.
One thing I noticed again and again was that I never truly belonged to one place. Instead, I felt at home in discovery, in different cultures, and in the connections I made along the way. Every challenge, every encounter, and every place I lived shape the way I see the world today.
The ocean became a special part of that journey.
Underwater, everything slows down. The noise disappears, time feels different, and I am reminded of how small and connected we all are. It became my home, my inspiration, and the place where I feel most alive.
Being surrounded by marine life every day has taught me respect, patience, and responsibility. It has shown me both the beauty and fragility of the natural world and inspired me to protect the places that have given me so much.
Many of the destinations featured in Bluedrift are places I have not only traveled through, but places where I have lived, worked, built friendships, and created lasting connections. Through these experiences, I hope to share a deep and authentic side of travel, one that goes beyond guidebooks, highlights, and tourist attractions.
I believe in living authentically, staying curious, and continuing to learn. I believe in stepping outside comfort zones, embracing uncertainty, and following dreams even when the path is unclear.
Most of all, I believe that the best experiences in life are not measured by achievements or destinations, but by the people we meet, the stories we share, and the memories we create along the way.
And that is exactly what Bluedrift is about.
